How To Fix Printer Spooler Issue?


A printer spooler is a dedicated program or software that essentially handles and manages the storing process and the order of the documents in the order documents will get printed. The print spooler is responsible for Windows interaction with the printer. On the other hand the word “Spooling” means the organise data that is stored in the volatile memory to access on request and pass across the devices with low memory. The term print queue means putting all the documents in the queue, one after the other.

How Does Printer Spooler work?

The printer spooler allows the users to send documents to the printer while another document is printing. But the printer holds it in the queue until the current job has been successfully complete. This means that the user doesn’t have to wait for a previous job to finish before you select to print. The printer thus does multiple prints.

The term means that the process of printing is performe on other documents and yours is waiting for the turn in the queue. The Printer status spooling is a fast process and is designe in such a way that it does not consume much memory.

Printer errors could be frustrating and uncommon as well, the errors can be identify when the printer shows the error message, stop in its tracks and takes time or refuse to print documents, so first of all we need to make sure of these things,

  1. Restart the system, and later restart the spooler
  2. Try resending the documents
  3. Try clearing the print queue list of the printer.
  4. Deleting all the unnecessary files from the print spooler by following a certain path of deletion of files.
  5. To minimise the errors we need to make sure to set the Print spooler to default.

How to Fix the Print Spooler Issue?

  1. Run the troubleshooting commands.
    • Click on system settings.
    • Scroll down and Click the ‘Troubleshoot’ option.
    • Next, select ‘Other troubleshooting’,
    • Choose the ‘Run’ option beside Printer
    • The system will be scann in the troubleshooting process.
    • Wait for a few minutes, until the system gets scanned, and recommend the fixes.
  2. Restart the print spooler.
    • Search for “Services” by pressing the “Window” key from the keyboard
    • In services select “Print Spooler”.
    • From the mouse, right-click and choose “Restart”.
    • Wait for the service to get restart and complete.
    • Try to print again by giving the “Print” command and check if the error is resolve or not.
  3. Stopping the printer spooler
    • Stop using or shut down the previous applications used to perform the print.
    • On the computer click on “Start”, then “Administrative Tools”.
    • Choose “Services”
    • From the list of options that come, scroll to see the “Print Spooler” option and right-click.
    • Choose “Stop” from the options.
    • In “My Computer”, choose “Local Disk C”.
    •  Select the “Windows” folder and follow the path, ‘System32’ folder> ‘spool’>’ Printers’
    • Delete “print jobs” 
    • Now head back to Services and select “Start” to check the print.

By following these simple steps you can get rid of the Printer spooler error prompt and help in fixing the darn spooler.
